The Halloween parade will begin behind the municipal building on West Buckeye. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m., the parade will begin at 6 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 24.

This is the 50th anniversary of the Hardin United Way. Donors can make a direct contribution or make a pledge. Donors may also give permission to use their names as a donor or donate anonymously.
The jazz group Parker and Parker Quartet will perform a concert at 8 p.m. on Oct. 3 in Presser Hall’s Snyder Recital Hall at Ohio Northern University. The concert, which is presented by the ONU Department of Music, is free and open to the public.
The Parker and Parker Quartet features father Gene Parker on reeds and son Ray Parker on bass. Gene Parker is a fixture in northwestern Ohio and Detroit, and Ray Parker is one of the leading bass players in New York City. The group also will include the young and talented Canadian drummer Jon Foster from Toronto and guitarist Mike Gabriel from Detroit.
Senior Scott Rapps (Bay Village Bay) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week presented by Scoutware for his efforts in Ohio Northern's 16-10 victory over Otterbein.
Rapps turned in a dominating performance from his defensive tackle position.
He had a team-high nine sacks, had 5.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, forced a fumble and recovered two fumbles in the game.
His first fumble recovery was in the end zone for ONU's only touchdown of the game in the second quarter and his second was part of a sack and strip that snuffed out Otterbein's final drive with 1:33 left in the game.

The Ohio Northern University Astronomy Club hosts a public viewing event called "Mars in the Lagoon," from 8 to 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30, according to Dr. Jason Pinkney, of the ONU Observatory.
The main attraction will be Mars, which has been moving through the constellation Sagittarius.
On Friday night, Mars will pass close to the Lagoon Nebula in the sky. This nebula is huge glowing cloud of gas and young stars about 5,000 light years away.
Mars will be about 9 light minutes away.
Other targets will include Saturn and the Trifid Nebula. The program is open to the public.
