Ada - Pancake capital of Ohio on Saturday - thanks to Kiwanis Club (688 people served!)

Story and photos by Monty Siekerman - Lots of photos at the bottom

Three score and four years ago the Ada Kiwanis Club started a tradition that continues today. Saturday was the 64th annual Kiwanis pancake and sausage meal held at the Ada schools.

An added attraction was the Easter bunny, thanks to the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce. Thsi year 688 people were served pancakes.

Here's some photos of the event.

• The Easter Bunny greets kids at the Kiwanis Club's 64th annual pancake and sausage meal on Saturday at the Ada Schools. Several hundred diners attended the event in support of the club's service to youth in the community.

 • Owen Jochims says, "See, there's the Easter Bunny over there."

• Batter up - Attorney Charles VanDyne applies pancake batter to the grill. He has been a member of Kiwanis for more than 50 years and helps at the annual pancake feast every year.

• Raegan Cox delivers cups to the drink table. It takes a lot of cups to serve the hundreds of people who attend the Kiwanis pancake extravaganza.

• Dentist Mark Shull was surprised by the club at the conclusion of Pancake Day on Saturday. He was honored with a life membership in Kiwanis Club. He has helped at the annual pancake meal for many years and served the club in other ways, as well.

 • Flippin' pancakes - Helping are (from left) Pete Previte, Andrea Pifer and Mike Hood.
