“Whoopee!” the Ada pool is open for the season
By Monty Siekerman
“Whoopee!” Children enjoyed the new Ada water park area when the pool opened for the season on Saturday.
More than a million dollars in new construction and renovations have taken place since last season. Kids gave their approval. “Awesome, cool, perfect, I like it, you can do all kinds of stuff,” were some of the comments.
About 75 people, mostly youngsters, were in line at the 1 p.m. opening. A half hour after opening, swimmers had purchased 148 season passes in presale and that morning. A pool manager said,” That was a very good number.”
Concessions have been expanded to include Slushes and hot food, including hot dogs, pizza, warm pretzels, and popcorn. Concessions can be purchased by park-goers through a window on the east side as well as by swimmers at poolside. See previous Ada Icon stories about the major changes.
Here’s the cost this year:
$4 for a daily pass
$50 season pass, if purchased by June 10
$60 season pass, if purchased after June 10
$10 deducted, if an Ada taxpayer
No family passes.
Hours are:
Open 1-8 p.m. seven days a week.
Midnight swim every Tuesday from 8 p.m. until midnight.
