ADA - The host Ada girls soccer team tied backyard rival Allen East 1-1 in the Northwest Conference and regular season finale on a chilly Saturday morning.

Ada finished the regular season 4-11-1 and 2-4-1 in the NWC (fifth) after the tie.

AE ended up 8-6-4 overall and 4-1-2 in the NWC with the tie, good for third in the league behind Spencerville and Bluffton.

"The game was evenly played the entire match," said Ada head coach Doug Poling.

The game was scoreless at halftime. Ada scored first when Katie Butterfield found the back of the net on a ball played initially at the goal by Julia Kamatali.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern women's volleyball program closed its stay at the 2018 Midwest Invitational Saturday afternoon with a pair of 3-2 losses to Susquehanna (Pa.) and No. 16-ranked Hope (Mich.) at the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

 

The Polar Bears, who fall to 15-7 overall on the season, finished the tournament posting a 1-3 record after defeating Elmhurst (Ill.) 3-0 and dropping a 3-1 match against tournament host and top-ranked Calvin (Mich.) on Friday.

ADA — The Ohio Northern football team dropped a 49-17 decision to No. 10-ranked John Carroll on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears fall to 4-2 overall and are 3-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Blue Streaks improve to 5-1, 4-1.

Junior Anthony McFadden (Chillicothe/Paint Valley) completed 11-of-28 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown and ran 18 times for 41 yards to lead the ONU offense.

SPENCERVILLE - The Ada boys cross country team finished fifth in the six-team Northwest Conference championship meet at Spencerville Saturday morning

Columbus Grove unseated defending league champion Lincolnview, winning the closely-contested boys team title by a score of 30 points to 33. Ada was fifth with 135 points, while Allen East was last with 157.

Ada senior Miguel Jordan finished 12th in the 87-runner field with a time of 17:58.2 to post the top purple and gold showing.

Bulldog sophomore Jacob Morgan ended up 38th with a time of 19:59.6.

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern women's cross country team finished fifth of 35 teams at the Wilmington Jenna Strong Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Wilmington Cross Country Course.

 

The Polar Bears (67-17 overall) finished first of the 13 NCAA Division III schools. ONU also defeated all 15 of the NCAA Division II and NAIA schools.

NCAA Division I schools finished in the top four places, with Ball State edging Northern Kentucky for the team title.

WILMINGTON— Senior All-American Ian McVey won his fourth race of the season, leading the Ohio Northern men's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the Wilmington Jenna Strong Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Wilmington Cross Country Course.

 

The Polar Bears (63-18 overall) finished with 131 points to place fourth of 34 teams.

ONU fell only to Miami (Ohio), Shawnee State and Northern Kentucky, who finished 1-2-3.

Northern was first of the eleven NCAA Division III schools.
