Fatal accident near SR 68 and TR 114 in Pleasant Township

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Monday, November 4, the Hardin County Central Dispatch Center received several calls about a car accident in the area of State Route 68 and Township Road 114, in Pleasant Township.

A gold Chrysler Pacifica driven by Lee Newman of Dunkirk was traveling Northbound when it went of the left side of the roadway and struck a tree. James Hagenbuch, of Findlay, the front passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dr. Fritz of the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.

A backseat passenger, Douglas Inmon of Dunkirk ,was transported to Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus by Careflight with suspected serious injuries.

Ohio Youth Resilience Collaboration focus group, November 12

9:00 - 10:30 a.m., Nov. 12, 1021 W. Lima St., Suite 103, Kenton.

Parents and guardians of children ages 12-18 are invited to a Tuesday, November 12 focus group hosted by the Hardin County OSU Extension and Center for HOPES.

Organizers for this Ohio Youth Resilience Collaborative (OYRC) focus group are seeking individuals who are interested in sharing their thoughts on youth substance use resources in Hardin County.

The event is open to the first 10 people who register. Food will be provided and participants will receive a $50 gift card.

Letter: Sixteen Ada FFA members attended 97th National FFA Convention

On October 23-25, a total of 16 Ada FFA members attended the 97th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. On the first day, the members visited Lincoln College of Technology, and while there they toured the campus and talked about the opportunities provided at the college.

Next, the members toured and learned about fish farming at Ozark Fisheries. They were taught the process of raising and selling fish and the different types of fish they raised. Later that night, they attended a Nate Smith and Megan Moroney concert at the Gainbrige Fieldhouse. ▶︎

Alger family loses home and contents to fire

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, the Alger Fire Department responded to a call for service just outside of the village on Township Rd. 92.

The fire destroyed a home and contents belonging to Steve and Angela Decker. The family was was not at home at the time of the fire. Animals belonging to the family were killed in the blaze.
