Ada Gator swimmers sit 4th at WOAL meet after day one

WAPAKONETA - The Ada Alligator swim team stands in fourth place at the annual eight-team West Ohio Aquatic League championship meet after the first day of competition in Wapakoneta Friday.
Westside leads the combined team standings after completion of the first 40 events with 1,593.5 points. Wapakoneta is second (1,379), followed by Bluffton (1,030) and Ada (681).
Shawnee sits fifth (567) and Kenton is sixth (534), with Van Wert seventh (304) and Sherwood last (284.5).
The Alligator boys are in fourth place after day one with 444 points. Wapak leads the boys team standings with 785 points, followed closely by Westside (733) and then Bluffton (504).
Meanwhile, the Ada girls stand sixth with 237 points after the first day's events. The Westside girls are first with 860.5 points, well ahead of second-place Wapak (594) and Bluffton (532).
Ada's Carlie Oldfield won the 50 freestyle and the 100 individual medley in the girls 13-14 age division Friday.
Alligator Tommy Spyker took first in the 100 IM and the 50 free in the boys 13-14 bracket on day one.
Ada's Lily Baumgartner also won the 50 butterfly in the girls 11-12 group.
Competition will conclude Saturday at Wapak with 42 final events.
