The first-ever Military Appreciation Night was well-received. About 100 veterans from all of the services attended. They were honored prior to the Ada High School football game Friday night at the stadium, which is appropriately named War Memorial Park. 

Those who served at home and abroad, in wars and conflicts, joined the football team on the field for the raising of the flag by members of Ada Scout Troop 124. The VFW presented the colors, and the Marching Band played a patriotic medley. The “National Anthem” was sung and “Taps” was played. The announcer spoke of their sacrifice to preserve our freedoms, and he made special note of those who never returned, who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

In addition, the veterans that evening received shirts with “Ada Military Appreciation Night” on one side and “Support Our Troops” on the back, free admittance to the game, and a boxed dinner.

On Friday, the community showed its support to the men and women in uniform. Likewise, the occasion of honor was meaningful to those who were recognized for their service in the military.
