Art, music and drama featured Nov. 3
Art, music and drama will be featured at the 4th annual literary art show, Second Expression, A Juried Art Exhibition and Fundraiser for Hardin County Artists and the Alger Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 3, 5-7 p.m. at the Alger Public Library.
This unique idea was inspired by the financial need of the library and the desire to provide visibility and income opportunity for the artists of Hardin County. All artwork is created using old or unwanted library resources, giving a “second expression” to their long life and usefulness.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. when all attendees are given the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award winner.
Awards presentation and entertainment begin at 6 p.m. with the actual sale of artwork immediately following till 7 p.m. Artwork ranging from $50-$200 will be available for purchase. All proceeds from each sale are divided 50/50 between the local artist and the Alger Public Library. Winning artists receive prize money, ribbons and trophies.
In addition to the art, raffle tickets will be sold for nearly 20 gift baskets and Ohio State/Michigan tickets. Several public figures will be on hand and the Hardin County Players will give a preview of their Christmas production, “The Gift of the Magi.”
“We encourage everyone to participate, whether it’s through the raffle items, purchasing artwork, voting for your favorite piece for the People’s Choice Award or simply coming out for a relaxing, evening with community members and friends of the arts. There is something for everyone.” said Marissa Osborne, President of the Friends of the Alger Public Library.
