Purple and Gold winter guard teams have busy weekend

Purple and Gold teams compete in Flint; Gold team also competes in Kettering

Note: This story clarifies errors posted yesterday concerning the recent winter guard competition.

Ada High School had two Winter Guard teams compete in the Winter Guard International, Flint, Michigan, Regional Competition Saturday March 9.  Both guards earned the honor of participating in the finals held later that evening.

Purple team
Ada’s “Purple” team was the first to take the floor in Saturday morning preliminary competition at 9:30 a.m. in the Scholastic Regional A class with their performance “Amongst the Start!” 

They earned the highest score in their class of 8 guards and repeated their first place performance in the evening finals competition. 

Member of this team include:  Alaina Robirds, Carmen Mancusso, Mitchel Frazier, Tessa Long, and Aleece Al-Olimet.  This is the “Purple” teams third first place finish this year.

Gold team
Ada’s “Gold” team competed in the Scholastic A class.  Their performance, “The Pale Blue Dot,” earned an 8th place finish in finals competition against 23 other guards. 

Members of this team include: Leona Dalton, Samantha Crawford, Jake Colwell, Olivia Hiester, Madison Wright, Tori Ross, Kaylee Huffer, Olivia Green, and Olivia Thomas.

The “Gold” team also competed in a Mid East Performance Association (MEPA) competition Sunday, March 10, in Kettering, Ohio, where they earned a 2nd place finish.

Dr. Jonathan Lischak, director of the Winter Guard program, is assisted by Amy Webb, Hailey Maier, and Libbie Milks.
