Farm bill update meeting held at Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative

Dec. 5 in Kenton; will focus on changes to ARC/PLC

A Farm Bill Update meeting for farmers has been planned for Thursday, Dec. 5 at Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative, 1210 W Lima St., Kenton. The meeting is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 

The 2018 Farm Bill allows the choice to enroll in ARC or PLC for 2019-2023. Enrollment for 2019 is currently open with the deadline set as March 15, 2020. 

OSU Extension and the Farm Service Agency personnel will discuss changes to the ARC/PLC, important dates and deadlines, crop insurance – supplemental coverage option, and using decision tools to evaluate program choices to make informed program decisions.

There is no cost to attend the meeting and refreshments will be provided. 

Overflow parking will be made available if needed at the Hardin County Ag Center, next to Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative. 

Sam Custer, Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator, OSU Extension from Darke County will be the guest presenter. Christie Suchora, County Executive Director, Hardin Farm Service Agency, United States Department of Agriculture will be on hand to answer specific questions and provide an overview to local producers. 

An update is also being planned from the Natural Resources Conservation Service, addressing the conservation related aspects of the Farm Bill.
