James Lehr Kennedy is grand marshall of Saturday homecoming parade

Ohio Northern University has a full slate of activities on tap for Homecoming weekend Oct. 4-6.

The annual event offers a special time for former students to return to their college home, relive cherished memories, visit with longtime friends and reconnect with their alma mater.

The full schedule of activities is available online at www.onu.edu/event/homecoming.

The centerpiece will be the Homecoming parade in downtown Ada beginning at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 5, which will feature James Lehr Kennedy as grand marshal.

Ada's library serves the whole community. Walk in and you see happy kids running around, people getting books on every topic, and families participating in bingo, movie nights, and much more.

Circulation is increasing. Involvement is increasing. But funding from the state of Ohio is going down.

ADA - Visiting Riverdale defeated Ada 7-0 in a girls soccer match Thursday evening.

The loss dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 3-10-1.

"We lost to a good Riverdale team," said Ada head coach Doug Poling. "They out-shot us and controlled the ball well."

The Lady Falcons led 3-0 at intermission and added four scores in the second half to win going away.

Riverdale out-shot Ada, 37-5. Bulldog senior keeper Kenzie Long made 30 saves in goal.

Ada (2-3-1 NWC) plays at backyard league rival Allen East (7-4-1, 2-2 NWC) Monday, October 7.

ADA - The host Ada volleyball team swept Spencerville in a Northwest Conference match to celebrate Senior Night in style Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-11 overall and 2-5 in the NWC with a convincing 25-14, 25-23, 25-12 win. The Bearcat girls fell to 6-12 and 0-7 in the NWC with the defeat.

"I finally felt like we had good energy," said Ada head coach Kyleigh Tabor. "We played hard and had fun."

"It was a tough loss; we played hard," said Spencerville head coach Amy Hoback.

MT. BLANCHARD - Host Riverdale shut out Ada 5-0 in a boys soccer North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Thursday evening.

The loss dropped the overall Bulldog record to 8-5-1 (2-2 NCOSA).

Ada (3-1 Northwest Conference) plays at backyard league rival Allen East (5-6-1, 3-0 NWC) Monday, October 7. AE trails four-time defending NWC champion Bluffton (4-0) by a half-game.

The Mustangs and Pirates meet in the league/regular season finale October 10 at Harrod with an NWC title on the line. Ada would share a three-way league crown if they beat AE, and if the Mustangs defeat Bluffton.

KENTON - The Ada boys cross country team finished sixth at the Kyle Althauser Memorial Invitational meet hosted by Kenton Thursday evening.

St. Marys won the team title with 31 points. Waynesfield-Goshen finished a distant second (65), followed closely by host Kenton (66).

Hardin Northern finished fourth (95), with Riverdale fifth (107) and Ada sixth (165). Lima Senior (no score) and Perry (no score) were each two runners short of the requisite five needed to total a team score.
