Ohio Northern University's fall semester ended early this year by plan. Students finished classes on Nov. 20. The covid-19 pandemic altered ONU's academic calendar with classes beginning earlier this year. Students will not return to campus until after the new year. 

Marie E. Hall, 98, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at 3:05 a.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.

She was born on Nov. 12, 1922, in Delphos  to the late Samuel and Ethel (Baxter) Carder. On Oct, 16, 1944, Marie married William W. Hall and he preceded her in death on June 24, 1969.

Marie retired in 1990 after working for 20 years for the Harris Company of Findlay.

She is survived by her four sons: John (Roseann) Hall of Payne, Samuel Hall of Lima, Jerry (Paula) Hall of Ada and Geoffrey (Shirley) Hall of Lima; a daughter, Kathleen Gray of Findlay; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. 

Lucy Dyer Rowe, 88 passed away on Friday Nov. 20, at 7:05 p.m. at her home in Alger, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 19, 1932, in Jump, Ohio, to the late Seward and Mary (Hurt) Dyer. Lucy married Abe Rowe on Nov. 9, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 2015.

Robert W. Hower, 92, died Nov. 21, 2020, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  Bob was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Bedminster, Pennsylvania, to the late William and Clara (Schwartz) Hower. He married A. Jean Roark Hower who preceded him in death.

Bob graduated from Bangor High School in Pennsylvania. He received his bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Bluffton College and later his teaching certificate from Ohio Northern University.

Ohio Northern University students left campus today for a long break between the fall and spring semesters.

As covid-19 changed many patterns in Ada this fall, one of those changes was to the Ohio Northern University calendar. In it, the seminar started in early August and ended today, Nov. 20.

 The revised calendar is one way in which the university is following guidance from the CDC regarding the coronavirus.
