MEDIA RELEASE__On Saturday, May 16, Upper Scioto Valley and Ridgemont concluded a Northwest Central Conference game that had been suspended and then played another nonconference game.

Ridgemont won the NWCC game 13-12 and the nonconference game 15-7.

Upper Scioto Valley is back in action on Tuesday, playing Ada at 5 p.m.

Patsy Spellman Evans, age 90, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

She was born on June 4, 1935, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Von and Ruth (Montgomery) Spellman. On December 23, 1955, Patsy married Ronald Evans, and they were married for seventy years; he preceded her in death on February 13, 2026.

MEDIA RELEASE__Wynn Hauenstein of the Ream-McElroy VFW Post 9381 in Ada presented a $1,000 scholarship to Riley Newton at the Hardin Northern High School awards ceremony on Friday, May 15.

Newton will be attending Ohio Northern University to study mechanical engineering.

FROM FACEBOOK__Ada's annual Fishing Derby will take place on Sunday, May 17. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. for early setup. Kids fishing (12 and under) - 12:30-1:30 p.m. Open Fishing: 2:00-5:00 p.m. To participate, membership is required. Cost $25/family per year. Membership covers parents and kids under 18. The derby will include raffles and prizes.

Hickman wins 400 meters

ADA__The Ada High School track and field teams hosted the annual 11-team Blanchard Valley Conference championship meet on Friday, May 15 in War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldog girls took sixth place, while the Ada boys ended up ninth in the league standings.

Van Buren captured the girls team crown by 26 points ahead of second-place Elmwood, 131.5-105.5. Riverdale edged Liberty-Benton for third (97-95), with Arlington coming in fifth (84). The Ada girls tallied 44.5 points.
