Dr. Alan Cook joins The Wellness Way in Ada
Meet Dr. Cook at the April 16 Ada Chamber meeting
By Paula Pyzik Scott
Dr. Alan Cook, DC has joined The Wellness Way chiropractic clinic, located at 955 S Main Street Ada, OH, 45810. Dr. Cook joins Dr. Todd Gillfillan, DC.
Dr. Cook is from eastern Ohio and the town of N. Bloomfield. He notes that this is a small town like Ada and that he enjoys the connectedness of living in a small town. He went to school in larger communities, at Youngstown State and at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
Cook’s interest in chiropractic and alternative medicine stems from his mother’s struggle to find help for a chronic skin condition that at long last responded to homeopathic methods. His introduction to chiropractic treatment came after a car accident at age 17. More recently, he met Dr. Gillfillan at a seminar, which led to his coming to Ada to serve the community.
For those who are new to chiropractic medicine, Cook explains that it “brings a lot of people relief from everyday stiffness and soreness and minor pain. Patients come in who have difficulty sleeping, have difficulty walking and staying on their feet…. A lot of people come to us because they know they are misaligned. We have a lot of patients who are very in touch with their bodies and know when their spine needs to be realigned.”
Routine care is a way to deal with the demands of jobs in farming, trucking and manufacturing, he notes. Moreover, Cook has patients of all ages from babies to the elderly.
With a second doctor on staff, The Wellness Way can now schedule appointments more quickly. The practice is open Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 9 a.m.-Noon and 2-5:00 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday hours are 9 a.m.-Noon and 2-7:00 p.m. Starting on May 10, there will also be Saturday hours.
Dr. Cook will be at the Wednesday, April 16 meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, which meets at 8:30 a.m. at the Ada Public Library, 320 N. Main St.
He will share “real-world tools for managing stress, self care and supporting mental health on the job.”
