Bulldog girls soccer in rugged sectionals
Ada hosts Kalida on Sept. 27 and entertains Miller City in the regular season finale on October 11

ADA__Despite a sparkling 9-2-2 record, the Ada High School girls soccer team is not yet assured of a high seed in the tough sectional quarter of their big overall district tournament draw.
Ada plays in the Div. V district bracket, which is split into four groupings. Ada is in section C which includes Putnam County League powers Miller City (6-1-2), Continental (8-0-2) and Columbus Grove (6-1-2). Other teams in section C are always-tough Bluffton (5-6), Kalida (4-4-1), LCC (1-5) and Allen East (1-8-1).
“It is a pretty solid group of teams, so it will be interesting to see how we get ranked for the draws,” said fourth-year Ada head coach Doug Dewese.
“Miller City, Grove and Continental have strong records but also have some tough games coming up,” he noted. “It looks like we won’t know much until the first weekend of October.
”It depends on how the other coaches view strength of schedule,” he offered regarding seeding. “Bluffton has a losing record but a really tough schedule, for example.
“If we can beat Upper Sandusky (5-4-1) and Kalida this week, we should get in the top half of the sectional and host the first round game,” he offered.
Miller City is ranked ninth in the MaxPreps Div. V state poll, while Continental is 11th. Defending Northwest Conference champion Columbus Grove is ranked 13th. Ada, which tied CG 1-1 Sept. 13, is rated 21st.
Bluffton is ranked 44th, which is a deceptive position due to their very difficult non-league schedule.
Undefeated Cincinnati Madeira is ranked first in Div. V.
