Village announces hydrant flushing on June 8

FROM FACEBOOK__The Village of Ada has announced they will be flushing fire hydrants starting on June 8, 2026 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The village will start with the northwest portion first, which is Zone A. Then, they will move to the northeast side of Ada, or Zone B, followed by the southeast side or Zone C. Village workers will finish the project with the southwest side of Ada, also known as Zone D.

Officials warn that because water mains are typically looped together, residents may notice their service pressure is affected, even if the hydrants being flushed are several blocks away. During the flushing process, there may also be a slight discoloration of the water, which is caused by sediment or rust being flushed from the water mains. Residents who experience discolored water, officials suggest running water from the faucet nearest your water meter to flush your service. Officials also caution against doing laundry during the hours listed above due to the possibility of staining light colored clothing due to the water discoloration.

Officials stress that residents' water is safe for all other uses and that slightly higher amounts of chlorine are added to the system during maintenance.

The Village performs the annual flushing of hydrants for several reasons, which include:

  • Safety - to ensure proper operation of each hydrant.
  • To clean out rust and sediment that may settle naturally in the system piping.
  • To exercise the hydrants and to do preventative maintenance.

Residents with any questions or concerns may contact the village.
