Awards to 18 different vehicle classes

This sounds like fun.

A “Park in the Park” car event takes place from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, in the Ada War Memorial Park.

Kent and Dee Everhart host the event in appreciation to the Ada community for its 25 years of support of Everhart Trucking, which the couple sold earlier this year.

Car owners may register vehicles, open to all years of cars, motorcycles and trucks. Registration continues during the event until 6 p.m.

Trophies and plaques will be awarded at 6 p.m. in 18 different vehicle classes. A donation of $10 per entry is appreciated.

Kent Everhart said that donations will support local veterans.

Safe Haven of Hardin County plans a virtual purse raffle fundraiser via Zoom at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 25, according to Deb Oestreich.

Tickets are also available through the mail. Call Oestreich at 419-679-4147. Additional details are on the flyer above.

Ever wonder what's at the bottom of the Bluffton Buckeye quarry?

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Ever wonder what lies on the floor of the Bluffton Buckeye quarry?

How about this: Where did Bluffton residents swim a century ago?

And: How did Cigarette Creek get its name? Are you kidding, is there such a place in Bluffton? Where it is?

Now that I have your attention, please be aware that the above questions will be addressed in a Bluffton Public Library Zoom talk at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 9. Presented by Fred Steiner, you will learn some things you never knew about water-related subjects in Bluffton.

Don’t worry if you missing it. The library will record it and you may watch it later.

A Red, White and Drive Through parade at Vancrest planned July 8

They called for a parade encore.

If you enjoyed the May parade at Vancrest Ada celebrating National Nursing Home Week, wait until July 8.

A Red, White and Drive Through – oh, who thinks of up these clever titles? – is set for Wednesday, July 8, similar to the May parade.

The community is invited to participate with cars, trucks, tractors, golf carts, practically anything that has wheels.  Parade line up is at 4 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Ada schools. The parade starts at 4:30 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to create signs, decorate vehicles in red, white and blue, and be prepared to honk and wave as residents will watch from  front-row seats.

You can sign up now and ride

The Bluffton Lions Foundation will host the 6th annual Ride to Remember in a virtual format this summer.

The public ride that was scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 11, will now be a ride that riders will complete on their own anytime from now until the end of July.

Maps with routes will be provided, but riders may also complete routes in their own communities, or through spinning indoors. The registration fee for the virtual ride will be a donation to the Bluffton Pathways Project, which will be collected during the online registration process.
