This weekend - last chance to watch ONU Holiday Spectacular

Did you miss the Ada performance of the ONU Holiday Spectacular?

No problem. Lima performances at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center are Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30; Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. All tickets are $5 and are available at the Freed Center Box Office and at any Kewpee location in Lima.

This holiday show has become a tradition to many patrons and area residents over the years. It gets everyone in the holiday spirit with its famous characters and familiar tunes. This year will introduce a few new characters and some new holiday favorites. Don’t miss the opportunity to join in the fun.

Cancer Center hosts I Can Cope Programs

Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC) is hosting a series of American Cancer Society “I Can Cope®” events that will be held from 6 p.m.  to 7:30 p.m. at the Birchaven Club House, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay.

Upcoming dates and topics include:

Thursday, December 13 – Understanding Cancer Treatments
Thursday, February 14 – Managing the Effects of Illness and Treatment
Thursday, April 11 – Keeping Well in Mind and Body
Thursday, June 13  – Communicating Concerns and Feelings

Registration is required and can be made through the American Cancer Society by calling 1.800.227.2345. A light dinner will be provided.

Apollo holiday craft show Dec. 1

Christmas at Apollo Craft Show is being held on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.  Admission is $2, children under 12 are free.  Lunch will be available.

The Craft Show features over 150 crafters. In addition to one of the largest selections of crafts around, the floral students at Apollo will have many arrangements that will be for sale in Apollo's Floral Shop during the show.

All proceeds are used to support Apollo student club community service projects. Apollo has several student clubs including: HOSA,  BPA, FCCLA, Student Council, FFA, and Skills USA.

Ada plays Bingo on Thursdays in December

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada. Doors open at 5:30; Bingo begins at 6:55. Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper packages.

Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club and Ada Music Boosters.

Dates are Dec. 6, Dec. 13, Dec. 20 and Dec. 27.

Registration underway for Sounds of Praise Children’s Choir Retreat

 

The Sounds of Praise Children’s Choir will hold an opening retreat for all interested singers in grades 3 – 8 on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, from 12 – 7 p.m.  Singers will participate in rehearsals and movement sessions, and the day will culminate in a community concert at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge to participate in this event.

The retreat is designed to bring children together from various areas to prepare and share their vocal gifts with the community.  Registration will be held now through Jan. 4. 

Hardin County Museum kicks off Holidays with Dec. 2 open house

The Hardin County Historical Museum, Kenton, Ohio will kick off the holiday season on December 2 with a Christmas Open House. 

The Sullivan-Johnson House will be decorated from top to bottom using the theme “Old Fashioned Christmas”.  The event will feature the opening of the Civil War 150 exhibit.  Hardin County is home to two Medal of Honor recipients, Jacob Parrott and Delano Morey. 

Both men received their Medals for action during the Civil War.  In addition to the Medal display will be an exhibit on the Ohio 82nd.  The Museum will be open 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Admission is free.
