At 6:30 p.m. on  Friday, March 10, the Ada High School junior class will host Powder Buff in the Varsity Gym.

A twist on Powder Puff football, it will feature a multi-game volleyball competion:

  • Freshman vs. Junior boys
  • Sophomor vs. Senior boys
  • Consolation game
  • Championship game

Admission is $2. There will also be a bake sale.

Dr. David Strittmatter, ONU Assistant Professor of History will present The Ray Brown Project at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 in the Allen County Museum’s Folsom Auditorium. 

Ray Brown (1908-65) was born in Alger in Hardin County. He pitched for the legendary Homestead Grays of the Negro Leagues and was posthumously inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 2006.  He died in the 1960s and is buried in Dayton, Ohio.

Ada Summer Swim Sign-ups for the 2023 season will take place on Tuesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 27 at the Ada First United Methodist Church from 6:30-8:00 p.m..

The 13th annual Ada Athletic Boosters Reverse Raffle will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the Harrod Event Center, 9520 Harrod Rd.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m., dinner will be at 5:00 p.m., and drawing starts at 6:00 p.m.

Keep Hardin County Beautiful will host a drive-through pulled pork dinner on Friday, April 14 fro 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Steak Barn at the Hardin County Fairgrounds.

KENTON–The United Way of Hardin County will hold its 2023 Annual Meeting from 7-8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 16 at the Kenton Armory, 128 N Main St.

Organizers note, “At this year’s annual meeting, we will highlight new board members, thank our outgoing board members, present annual campaign awards, and have the Bonnie McBride Memorial Pie Auction. 

“We will also have a light breakfast of donuts, yogurt, casseroles and various drinks. We will offer a 50/50 raffle, and basket raffles. Tickets can be purchased by cash or check at the door.”

The annual meeting will also feature a short business meeting to review the organization’s financials, formally vote on the new Board of Directors members and take a look at where the United Way is heading.

The event is free.
