FROM ONU DEPARTMENT OF ART AND DESIGN FACEBOOK - Last week, Ohio Northern University Professor Luke Sheets was part of an international team of sculptors in Denmark working on the vision of Sten Lykke Madsen.
Luke reports, “We spent about five days building the two-meter, 500 kg sculpture. It dried for several days and was fired with gas for two additional days before switching to wood. [Last Friday, we brought] the final temperature to around 1280 degrees C.

The Ada High School Marching Band and flag corps is preparing an out-of-this-world experience for those who attend their shows this coming school year.
This year’s band show is about space and the planets, featuring music from Gustav Holst’s suite titled “The Planets.”
A free show is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20, in the back parking lot of the school for those who want a glimpse of the upcoming season. On Monday, band and flags members began an intensive two-week camp at the school to prepare for 2018-19 school year. They are practicing from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Bluffton University has announced the dean’s list for the undergraduate students for the spring term. Students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher are eligible for the dean’s list.

The Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes met on July 9, in the Hardin Northern Ag Building. Due to recreation leaders Makenna Eibling and Heidi Trachsel not being present there was no recreation for the night. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Becca Allen and the 4-H pledge was led by Emori Criner. There were 20 members present, 8 guests, and 5 advisors. Members taking still projects can now make their judging appointments. The progress made in project books were also checked by advisors. Project presentations were also given by Jonah Ruhlen with woodworking and rabbits, Vern Woodruff with a series circuit demonstration for electricity, Mary Ann Woodruff with Ohio Birds, and Carl Woodruff
