Tim Garmon of rural Ada has started a nondenominational church at Ada Vancrest.
The new church is open to residents and the public. The new endeavor, which met for the first time last Sunday, has services at 10 a.m. on Sundays.
Garmon said he was led by God to begin a church for senior citizens. The church combines traditional and contemporary aspects of worship.
Several years ago, Garmon pastored United Methodist churches in Dunkirk and Patterson. He currently is head of maintenance at one of the equestrian complexes at the University of Findlay.
Liberty National Bank in Ada is having a tailgate party from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17. Chicken wings have been ordered from Tavern 101, and employees will provide their favorite dishes to round out the fare.
The party will be held in the bank lobby. Wear your favorite school's colors, whether high school or university. One catch: if you wear jeans, there will be a $5 charge that will be given to the bank's Share the Warmth campaign, which provides winter clothing to those in need in the community.
Friday is always popcorn day at LNB, and it will be available, too, as usual.
