The Ohio Northern University Department of English presents author Simone Muench in the Pettit College of Law Moot Court room on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Muench was raised in Louisiana and Arkansas and now lives in Chicago. She is the author of “The Air Lost in Breathing” (Marianne Moore Prize for Poetry), “Lampblack & Ash” (Kathryn A. Morton Prize for Poetry), “Orange Crush,” and “Disappearing Address,” co-written with Philip Jenks.
Ohio Northern University presents the 38th annual Law Review Symposium, “Congress on the Red Carpet: Legislation Impacting the Entertainment and Social Media Industries,” in the Pettit College of Law’s Moot Court Room on Friday, April 19. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. This symposium is open to the public.
The speakers will discuss the various areas of entertainment law with specific focus on the music, television, sports, social media and art industries. At this year’s ONU Law Review Symposium, individuals will have the opportunity to see where the law and these industries intersect from the viewpoints of those who make it all possible.
Ohio Northern University’s Dicke College of Business Administration has been ranked No. 62 in the nation by Bloomberg Businessweek in the publication’s annual rankings of undergraduate business programs.
Ranked third in the state of Ohio, Ohio Northern earned high marks in the nine categories used for the rankings, including an “A” in the “Teaching Quality Grade” category. In academic quality, ONU was ranked 14th overall in the nation. In 2010, ONU was ranked 72nd overall.
The Ohio Northern University Symphonic Band presents its spring concert, “Praising Ohio,” in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. The program will celebrate the music, musicians and great accomplishments of the Buckeye State.
The program includes the “Overture to Candide” scored by Clare Grundman, “New World Variations” by David Shaffer, and “Rolling Thunder” by Henry Fillmore. One of the highlights of the evening will be Steven Reineke’s “Symphony No. 1,” which includes a ragtime solo performed by Christian Livengood, a first-year pharmacy major from Norwalk, Ohio.
The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, March 26. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.
The topic of the workshop will be “The Norm Factor: Going Beyond Customer Service 101” with Marc Woodward. This event is free and open to the public.
David Rouch, professor and chair of the Department of Technological Studies at Ohio Northern University, was honored with the Distinguished Technology and Engineering Professional award (DTE) at the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) conference in Columbus, Ohio, on March 8.
The prestigious award is presented to technology educators who have demonstrated a high level of competence and conscientiousness in the field of technology and engineering education. ITEEA’s DTE designation is a coveted mark of distinction in technology and engineering education.
