Ada police department K9 unit assisted in a narcotics investigation in Hardin County on Aug. 15.

Hardin County Crime Task Force initiated a traffic stop on Aug. 15, as a result of an ongoing narcotics investigation, according to Keith A. Everhart, sheriff.

Traffic stop was made on State Route 31 near County Road 190 by Hardin County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

As a result of the traffic stop one adult male was taken into custody on an Adult Parole Authority arrest order. Charges for possession and trafficking are pending on the adult male and two other adults.

At 9:20 a.m. this morning the Ada Police Department issued a S.A.F.E.R. Alert (Seeking Aid From Every Resident) as it attempt to find the identity of the subject in this picture and video.

This Hispanic male has actively stolen items from Keith's Hardware over the past couple of days. He has tattoos on his right arm and was observed wearing a gold watch.

The video shows the subject concealing a DeWalt Drill in his shorts and under his shirt.

Ada police officer Sgt. Donald Deckling is okay after his police cruiser was involved in an accident on Aug. 8.

Deckling was traveling east on East North Street in Ada at 1:45 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on North Johnson Street. The cruiser was hit on the passenger side and the cruiser turned onto its side.

Summer Miller of Lima, was the driver of the other vehicle. She was treated at the scene and was cited for failure to yield at the right of way at an intersection.

Deckling was treated and released from St. Rita's Medical Center.

The Icon has obtained an update on the two-car crash involving an Ada police cruiser  at the intersection of North Johnson and East North Street in Ada this afternoon.

According to a witness at the scene, the driver of the northbound SUV accelerated instead of stopping when the driver's flip-flop apparently caught on the accelerator of the SUV. 

The SUV then collided with an Ada police cruiser driven by Sgt. Donnie Deckling.  The cruiser landed on its side. The name of the other driver was not yet released.

According to a Hardin County Deputy Sheriff on the scene, there were no serious injuries.

Robert L. Burdette Weyer, 25, of Ada, was killed when he was struck by a car early Sunday morning, July 31.

According to Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish, the incident occurred at 3 a.m. in the 9900 block of Reservoir Road between Pevee and Shrider roads when a westbound vehicle struck Weyer.

Weyer was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was sent to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Hunter Allen, 19, of Ada, driver of the vehicle, was not cited. The driver was on his way to Lima, Crish said.

Ada Police Department’s canine unit assisted the Hardin County Crime Task Force in a narcotics investigation on July 29, according to Keith Everhart, Hardin County Sheriff.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., on July 29, the department initiated a traffic stop on County Road 144 near County Road 195 east of Kenton.

As a result, 125 individual hits of heroin were confiscated along with other drug paraphernalia.

Two adult females were arrested on numerous charges including possession, trafficking and tampering with evidence.
