The Ada High School Marching Band and flag corps is preparing an out-of-this-world experience for those who attend their shows this coming school year.
This year’s band show is about space and the planets, featuring music from Gustav Holst’s suite titled “The Planets.”
A free show is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20, in the back parking lot of the school for those who want a glimpse of the upcoming season. On Monday, band and flags members began an intensive two-week camp at the school to prepare for 2018-19 school year. They are practicing from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
It may be mid-July, but the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce board is thinking about late summer and early fall events.
The board meets at 8 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, in the Dean's Heritage Room in McIntosh Center on the ONU campus, according to Heather Cox, board president.
On the agenda include a discussion of several upcoming events. Those include a sidewalk sale and car show, Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival and the Harvest and Herb Festival.
Deb Curlis, chamber director, will provide a membership update and director's report.
The Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H Club will hold its annual garage sale/bake sale fundraiser at 824 S. Johnson St. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday. Proceeds will be used for the end-of-the year party and other projects. Donations are accepted, as well. The club is led by advisors, Amy Stover, Rachael Underwood, Chad Hazelton and Jamie Hazelton.
