Vicki Mills of Miss Vicki's Music Studio, Ada, announces that The JubilHeirs – a choir for singers ages 12 – 25, will now meet on Monday evenings from 6 – 8 p.m. 

"This auditioned, 4-plus-part treble voiced choir begins its fourth season on Sept. 19.  The JubilHeirs learn a variety of music, both sacred and secular," she told The Icon.

Recent performances in Ada and Findlay included songs from Mary Poppins, The Phantom of the Opera, as well as international folk songs in Japanese and French.

Incoming freshman were welcomed to campus Thursday morning during Moving in Day.

Several hundred faculty, staff, and upperclassmen students were on hand to greet the new Polar Bears, help unload their cars, and answer questions.

Here, students welcome their new friends at one intersection. Small groups of students cheered at every intersection near campus as the frosh and their parents drove in.

Orange and black cupcakes were handed out, as well. Once near their assigned residence hall, people were on hand to unload their possessions, show them to their rooms, and explain the events of the next few days.

During the month of July, Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 1.68 inches of rain in Hardin County. 

Last year, the average rainfall for July was 4.66 inches.  The extremely dry month had lower rainfall totals in the northern half of the county, although most areas in the southern half recorded low rainfall amounts as well.

Liberty Township recorder, Phil Epley, reports rainfall at 1.24 inches and 11.01 inches for the growing season.

Dale Rapp in Dudley Township received 4.32 inches of rain for the month, the most of any of the township sites. The least rain in July, 0.55 inches, was collected in Blanchard Township by Crop Production Services.

Ohio Northern University will offer a history course that is hard to beat, or at least has a beat, during fall semester. “History of Rock ‘N’ Roll in the 1960s” will explore history through the lens of rock music.
 
The course will explore how society and rock music in the 1960s influenced each other, how rock ‘n’ roll music is a product of those times, and how rock music from that period continues to resonate in current music.
 
The class is an inter-disciplinary endeavor taught by Raymond Schuck, assistant professor of history; Dr. Rebecca Casey, associate professor of music; and William Mancuso, assistant professor of art.
