LIMA BATH__The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team tied non-league foe Bath 1-1 on Thursday night, August 21.
The Bulldogs ran their record to 2-0-1 with the tie. WBL rival Bath is 0-1-1 after the result.
“It was a gritty performance that builds character,” said Ada second-year head coach Aaron Acheson. “This was a great test for us. The boys played with their heart and truly left it all on the pitch.
“It was great to have Bradyn back out there, overcoming an ankle injury that kept him out of the first two games,” he continued. “Jacob Rush made some great saves for his team.
ADA__The Ada High School girls soccer team scored four second half goals to break a tie and beat defense-minded foe Fort Jennings 5-1 in the home opener at War Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, August 20.
The Bulldog girls improved to 3-0 with the decisive non-league victory, while FJ fell to 0-2 with the defeat.
Ada senior Alex Gibson tallied two goals to pace the victors.
NEW KNOXVILLE __The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team defeated non-league foe New Knoxville 3-1 on Monday, August 18.
The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 with the victory. NK fell to 0-2 after the defeat.
“The boys put in a gritty performance and earned a well-deserved win at New Knoxville,” said Ada second-year head coach Aaron Acheson. “We controlled the game in the midfield, with our holding midfielders setting the tone and linking play effectively.
“The back four were outstanding,” he continued. “They were solid, vocal and quick to recover while covering for each other throughout the match.
CONVOY – The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team dominated Crestview to the tune of 6-0 on Monday evening, August 18.
The Bulldog girls jumped ahead 4-0 at halftime as sophomore Avary Acheson netted the first goal, then assisted on the next three scores.
“It was a good confidence-building win,” said fourth-year Bulldog girls head coach Doug Dewese. “Our bench got a lot of work in and stepped up to the challenge with some good games out of Charleigh Entinghe, Emma Lambdin and Piper Wallace, to name a few.”
LIMA – The Ada High School boys golf team improved but finished ninth out of 10 teams at the second Blanchard Valley Conference tournament on Monday, August 18 at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Lima.
Victorious in the first league tourney Aug. 4, Van Buren won again with 300 strokes. Leipsic was second (313), followed by Liberty-Benton (316), Elmwood (347), Riverdale (359), McComb (376), Arcadia (380), Arlington (381).
Ada totaled 396 strokes to finish ninth again, 38 shots ahead of Pandora-Gilboa (434).
