Summer youth tennis program July 10-12

The Ada Community Tennis association will hold its 11th annual summer youth tennis program on July 10-12.

Registration forms are available at the Ada Pool, Ada Library, Liberty Bank, and Quest Bank and by e-mailing Scott Wills  ([email protected]). 

The program is for kids ages 4 and up and no tennis experience is needed. Ages 4-6 will play from 5:30 - 6:15, Ages 7-10 from 5:30 - 6:30, and ages 11 and up from 6:30 - 7:30.

Season begins at Kenyon Relay on Oct. 14 under 14th-year head coach Peggy Ewald

For the fifth consecutive season, Northern will open its schedule at the Kenyon Relays.

The diving portion of the meet will be held at Denison.

In the month of November, ONU will compete in the Calvin (Mich.) Invitational on Nov. 3-4, and will travel to Wilmington on Nov. 10 and Wittenberg on Nov. 17.

The Polar Bears will open the home portion of the schedule on Nov. 11 in a dual meet with Ohio Athletic Conference-foe John Carroll.

Other home meets feature bouts with Mount Union on Jan. 13 and Oberlin on Jan. 20.

The Polar Bears will also compete in the 3-day Wooster Invitational from Nov. 30-Dec. 2.

The Polar Bears finished the indoor season with a 52-9 mark and posted an outstanding 78-4 record during the outdoor season.

Northern finished second at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships during the indoor portion of the season, before returning to claim the outdoor title.

At the indoor OAC Championships, six athletes were crowned OAC Champions in at least one event.

Seniors Kelsey Commager (Maumee), Allie Gast (Grandville, Mich.) and Rebecca Olashuk (Defiance/Tinora), junior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) and sophomores Maddy Reed (Lucasville/Piketon) and Ashlie Baumann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) all earned OAC titles.

The Ohio Northern men's track and field team excelled and competed on a national level during the 2017 track and field seasons, under eighth-year head coach Jason Maus.

Northern concluded the indoor season with a 47-16 record, and posted a 67-16 record during the outdoor season.

The Polar Bears also claimed second place at both the indoor and outdoor Ohio Athletic Conference Championship meets.

At the indoor conference championships, six athletes claimed OAC titles to lead Northern.

The Ohio Northern men's and women's cross country teams are set to open the 2017 campaign at the Bluffton Invitational 5k under ninth-year head coach Jason Maus.

The Polar Bears will open the season on Sept. 1 at the Bluffton Invitational for the fifth consecutive season.

Northern will then travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to compete in the annual Calvin (Mich.) Invitational on Sept. 9 before competing in the Tiffelberg Open at the Clinton Heights Golf Club on Sept. 16.

After taking a week off, the Polar Bears will return to action on Sept. 29 as they compete in the All-Ohio Championships at Cedarville University.
