ONU's Jordan Kimes scores 1,000th career point

Senior Jordan Kimes scored her 1000th career point and recorded a double-double as the Ohio Northern women's basketball team defeated Muskingum 60-50 Saturday afternoon at Performance Court in New Concord.

The Polar Bears improve their record to 18-5 and 14-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Muskies fall to 6-17,4-12.

Kimes would join the 1000 point club as she scored her 20th point of the afternoon on a free throw with 2:18 remaining in the contest to give Northern a 56-44 lead.

Kimes led all scorers with 20 points on the afternoon and pulled down 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Kaitlyn Liccion named Assistant Women's Lacrosse coach at Ohio Northern

ADA — Kaitlyn Liccion has been named an assistant coach for the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team.

Liccion received her bachelor of arts in psychology from Limestone (S.C.) College in 2011, where she competed in intercollegiate lacrosse.

A native of Auburn, N.Y., Liccion was a four-year letter winner at Limestone, making four NCAA Final Four appearances and a second place finish in the NCAA finals.

Liccion came to ONU after serving as the head girl's lacrosse coach at Beachwood (Ohio) High School in 2013-14.

Wrestler Jarod Woodland earns an Ada HS first at NWC meet

Here's a first for the Ada HS wrestling program.

Ada High School wrestler Jarod Woodland was named co-wrestler of the year at Saturday's Northwest Conference wrestling meet held at Bluffton. Woodland, a senior, who wrestles at 195 shared the honor with Adam Deatrick, a Paulding senior, who wrestles at 170. Woodland is the first-ever Bulldog to receive the NWC wrestler title.

Lovejoy brothers go 10-0, win titles at 32-team Wheaton Invitational

Junior Colt Lovejoy and senior Cody Lovejoy each went 5-0 and won their respective weight class championships to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team at the Wheaton (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational on Friday and Saturday at King's Arena.

The Polar Bears (13-4 overall) finished fifth of 32 teams with 82 points.

No. 2-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater won the team title with 173 points, No. 9 Messiah (Pa.) was second with 134.5, No. 7 Mount Union was fourth with 98 and No. 12 Alma (Mich.) was fourth with 91.5.

ONU finished ahead of No. 13 Baldwin Wallace (81 points) and No. 29 Augustana (Ill.) (80 points) and No. 13 Trine (Ind.) (38.5 points) in the team standings.
