as Delphos Jefferson blanks Bulldogs

The Ada footballers saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Friday night, as the powerful Delphos Jefferson Wildcats came to town and blanked the Bulldogs, 44-0. 

The loss eliminates Ada from NWC title contention and drops the Dogs to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the league.

The Wildcats racked up 38 first half points behind a menacing ground game powered by senior Hunter Binkley, enroute to the 44 point shutout.  DJ has beaten Ada in three straight, the last two by a combined score of 95-7.

The Bulldogs will attempt to start a new win streak this Friday night when they take the show on the road to Allen East.

FINDLAY - The Ada cross country teams competed in the Div. III district meet at Findlay Saturday afternoon.

The Ada boys ended up 12th out of 13 full squads. The Lady Bulldogs, missing injured top runner Abbie James, finished eighth out of eight full teams represented.

Ada senior Eric Armbrecht finished 51st in a field of 90 runners field to pace the Bulldog boys. Senior Larry Zembower came in 57th and classmate Andrew Ross ended up 64th.

Ada seniors Seth Evans and Keaton Kipker finished 77th and 81st, respectively.

FINDLAY - Top-seeded host Liberty-Benton knocked off the Ada girls soccer
team 7-0 in second round tournament action Saturday afternoon.

The district quarterfinal defeat ended the Lady Bulldog season at 6-11-1,
their best record in years.

Ada, seeded 10th, also won the first tournament game in program history
over Otsego after a double overtime tie necessitated a shootout.

"We didn't play particularly well," said Ada head coach Jeff Hunt of the
loss to L-B, which outscored the Bulldogs 15-1 in two wins this month.

It's ONU 44 Muskingum 3

Ohio Northern celebrated its Homecoming Weekend with a 44-3 Ohio Athletic Conference football victory over Muskingum on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears (3-4 overall, 3-3 OAC) dominated from the outset, leading 14-0 after the first period and 31-3 at halftime.

Senior tight end Logan Ray (Van Wert) caught eight passes for 86 yards and three touchdowns and sophomore kicker Joe French (Elgin, Ill./Saint Edward Central Catholic) set a school single-season record with 11 field goals on the year to lead Ohio Northern.

The Muskies fall to 3-4, 2-4.

Bulldogs advance to district semi-finals against Leipsic next Tuesday

DOLA - The Ada volleyball team won a tough four-set battle at county rival Hardin Northern in Div. IV second round tournament action Thursday night.

The visiting Ada squad rallied to win a close third set for a 2-1 lead, then carried that momentum to a 10-point lead in set four and held off a late Polar Bear charge to advance.

After their ninth consecutive triumph, the purple and gold Lady Bulldogs improve to 18-6 overall. HN finished its season 17-6 as they lost for the fourth time in five matches down the stretch.

NWC honors also to Madisyn Gossard, Olivia Alexander and Haley Wyss

For the second consecutive season, Ada High School junior Melina Woods was named  Northwest Conference “Player of The Year” in volleyball.

Ada won the Northwest Conference title with a perfect 8-0 record in league play.

JaNahn Evans of Lincolnview was voted NWC Coach of the Year. Voting took place earlier this week by NWC coaches.

Other Ada players named to the all-conference team follow:
• Madisyn Gossard, junior, first team
• Olivia Alexander, junior, second team
• Haley Wyss, senior, honorable mention
