Village Voice: Here's all the details of trash pickup

Now that the weather is beginning to agree with the calendar that it is indeed spring, many residents are ready to start cleaning! Spring cleaning may result in a large variety and quantity of unwanted material.

While the Village will not be providing a spring cleanup day this year, there are a few tips the Village would like to offer to residents and property owners:

Village Voice: Village brush pick up/chipping service April 7

Have the winds of this winter helped ‘trim’ a few of your trees?
Do you need to have some limbs picked up and chipped?
Now is your chance!

The village will conduct a monthly service of brush pick up/chipping and pick up on Monday, April 7.

One of the goals of brush chipping and pickup is to keep the tree lawn areas of the village clear of debris, so that debris litter does not enter the storm sewer system. Brush or storm debris in the tree lawn area may be picked up by the village, and residents may place additional brush for chipping in that area.

Taxing questions? Answers on village tax forms from Central Collection Agency

The Village of Ada uses the services of Central Collection Agency (also known as CCA) Division of Taxation for filing and payment of Village Income taxes. As a service to its customers, CCA schedules on site taxpayer assistance.

This year, auditors from CCA will be available at the Ada Depot on Wednesday, April 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At these times, auditors will be able to assist taxpayers with their Village of Ada income tax form preparations.

Village Voice: West Highland Avenue closure starts this week

In December of 2013, Village Council voted to approve a request to close West Highland Avenue from Main Street to the alley west of the United Methodist Church property.

The purpose for the closure is to ensure a safe construction environment while the new United Methodist Church is being built this spring.

The Village has received word that the closure will begin Wednesday, March 19. There will be no access to the street, parking, and sidewalks while the street is closed. The street closure is authorized until April 1, 2015.

Village Voice: Employment opportunities available with the village

The Village is making preparations to staff the Ada Municipal Pool for the 2014 summer season.

Applications are currently being accepted for the following positions at the pool: assistant manager, head lifeguard, lifeguard and cashier. Some of the positions, such as manager and head lifeguard, could possibly be combined depending on the applications received.

Some qualifications for the positions include:

The Village Voice: East Lima Avenue reconstruction underway

East Lima Avenue Reconstruction has begun. In an ideal world, progress happens overnight and none of us are inconvenienced while improvements are made. Progress in Ada may not happen overnight, but we do like to warn residents when it’s coming, in an effort to minimize the level of inconvenience.

If you have been near East Lima Avenue in the past week, you probably have seen various construction signs and equipment in the area. The street reconstruction project that was first shared in a public meeting in 2012, officially began last Friday, February 28. The project is expected to finish in October 2014.
