1,000 Books Before Kindergarten at the Ada Library
On Tuesday, October 6th the Ada Public Library will kick-off the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program!
The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. In an attempt to spread the love of reading, and also encourage a successful start to your child’s education, we encourage you to embark on 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Sounds daunting, but if you read just 1 book/day, that’s 365 books in 1 year, 730 books in 2 years, or 1,095 books in 3 years.
According to the American Library Association’s United for Libraries, A study of 3- to 5-year-olds who had been read to at least three times per week found the children:
• Two times more likely to recognize all letters
• Two times more likely to have word-sight recognition
• Two times more likely to understand words in context
Skills that increase a child’s chances for future educational success!
So, please consider signing your child/children up for this wonderful program! Stop by the Ada Public Library for your reading log and rules.
