Ada American Legion selects 5 students for Boys-Girls State

Ada students are Ashley Breidenbach and Jacob Park.

Five Hardin County seniors are delegates in their respective Buckeye Boys and Girls State programs this week. The students were selected by Ada American Legion Post 185.

Ashley Breidenbach, Ada High School, is a Girls State delegate.

She is the daughter of Travis and Tracy Breidenbach. Ashley is active in cheerleading, Varsity Singers, Drama Club, FFA, Student Council, and was Junior Class president. 

Outside of school she is involved in Cessna Minuteman 4-H club and the Hardin County Junior Fair Board.  She attends Grant United Methodist Church.  After graduation she plans to attend Ohio State University and major in Early Childhood Development.

The delegates for Buckeye Boys State are Jacob Park, Sebastian Bejarano, Peyton Dyer and Keaton Cox. 

Park is an Ada High School student. He is the son of Gary and Stacy Park.  He is active in Chior, Swim Team, and Varsity Singers.  He is a member of the Ada Church of Christ.  After graduation he plans to study Electrical Engineering. 

Bejarano attends Hardin Northern High School.  He is the son of Mark and Crystal Bejarano.  Sebastian is active in theater and band.  He has been a member of the All Ohio State Band.  He also has multiple band awards including Youth Leadership Certificate, and OMEA Certificate.  He has been a member of the student government at Hardin Northern and has served as Senator and Representative.  He is a member of St. Michael’s Parish in Findlay.  

Dyer is a student at Upper Scioto Valley.  He is the son of Rick and Lori Dyer. He is a member of the USV student council and was class president his junior year. 

He is also a member of the National Honor Society, and FFA, where he is vice-president and holds a state FFA degree.  He is also a member of the USV Football  and Baseball team and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He has been named to the Second Team All Conference while on the football team.  He attends Alger First United Methodist Church and is a member of their youth group. 

Cox is a student at Upper Scioto Valley.  He is the son of Gerald and Melonie Cox.  He is member of the National Honor Society.  He is active in the USV Cross Country and Track programs.  He also works part time for Indian Lake State Park.   

Buckeye Boys State and Girls State are programs that teach youth about American government and the rights and privileges of being a citizen. 

Boys State takes place June 12-19 at Bowling Green State University and Buckeye Girls State takes place June 12-18 at the University of Mt. Union in Alliance.
