Andrew Rorabaugh explains his Working with Wind science project Thursday evening during the annual 7th grade Science Fair held in the Ada Schools cafeteria.

Wind turbines are currently giving the Ada area an important economic boost. Thirty turbines have recently begun turning their wind-driven propellers just east of Ada, a $100 million project.  

Another $300 million installation of 80 turbines is slated to be built on land between Alger and McGuffey. Farmers will receive sizable land rental payments where turbines are built, and taxing districts will have bigger coffers.

Anyone who has walked outside the past few weeks has been struck by the strong winds, lowering wind chills considerably far below already cold temperatures.

Perhaps the Ada area is a perfect location for turbine “farms.”
