An interesting story about an interesting old Ada snapshot

There's a story behind every black and white snapshot, and this photo tells an interesting Ada story. Virginia (Snare) Long, former Ada resident, now of Fostoria, shared this photo and the story behind it to The Icon.
Here's the story in Virginia's words:
"This is a picture of the Liberty Bank in Ada, taken in the late 1940s. In the front window you can see the bank vault. That was where all the money was kept. It was opened each morning and closed at the end of the day. This was the job of the cashier, at that time, Rodney Hover.
"Lloyd McElroy was bank president and Robert H. Messinger and Aleta Parshall were employees.
"Banking was very different at that time. I worked there beginning in 1946 until 1953. I remember that a lot of loans were made on the signature of the customer. It seems that the employes knew our customers and they knew us.
"I can remember seeing professors at Ohio Northern University who are now deceased. Our grandson is a student there and I have told him about some of the professors I knew. I even remember the man who started the university, Dr. Lehr.
"I have not seen the new bank building that is now the Liberty Bank in Ada. We have been gone for 50 years. Things change!"
Sincerly,
Virginia Long
