Internship of a lifetime
FROM ONU WEBSITE - After her summer internship in Washington, D.C., criminal justice major Angelica Krumnow learned that you should never pass up an opportunity. You never know where it might lead!
Krumnow decided to apply for an internship through the Washington Center, a nonprofit organization specializing in internship placement, just to see what would happen. When she found out she was chosen, she couldn’t help but say yes.
For about two months, she worked alongside detectives at the Metropolitan Police Department. She learned a lot about police and detective work that she never knew before, and the hands-on experience was invaluable. Along the way, she met many different people in different kinds of occupations. Some of the best advice she received came from a teacher-turned-investigator she met on the job.
“Don’t say no to an opportunity,” she says. “If someone presents you with something, just say yes.”
She’s certainly glad she took the opportunity to do something new. She left Washington, D.C., with not only a wealth of high-impact learning experience, but also some great life lessons.
