Several local artists in next ArtSpace/Lima exhibit
ArtSpace/Lima announces the opening of ArtSpace/Pops: A Fine Craft Invitational in The Ellen Nelson Gallery, Saturday, Aug. 4. The show includes several local artists.
ArtSpace/Pops features all new works by 20 area craftsmen and -women in a joint showing which builds on the success of its predecessor in 2011.
Artists on display work in wood, metal, clay, paper, fabric, and various jewelry-oriented combinations of metals and beads. Artists for the show include: Kay Boiarski, Jaye Bumbaugh. Bruce Chesser, Ed Corle, Judy Decker, Jack Earl, Anna Fisher, Mary Gaynier, LaVerne Kemp, Mike Kozumplik, Kim Leopold, Robert Minto, Libbi Pennington, Yasue Sakaota, Luke Sheets, Steve Smith, Kaname Takada, Sumiko Takada, Les Thede, and Marvin Thorp.
Most of the craftspersons in the exhibit are from northwest central Ohio and several have been award-winners in earlier ArtSpace shows.
The exhibit is deliberately designed to “lower the temperature” of the Ellen Nelson Gallery, featuring more accessible works than are usually on display. Still, the emphasis for this exhibit is on the word “fine.” The exhibit will run through Sept. 8.
There will be an opening reception for the artists on Saturday, Aug. 4, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
