Icon test drives Facebook group for Ada area public meeting minutes

By Paula Pyzik Scott

July 2025 discussions concerning the future of on-street parking adjacent to the Ada-Liberty ambulance bay raised questions about communication with the community.

Currently the Ambulance board has a Facebook page which is used very occasionally to provide information to the public. Minutes for public meetings are to be had for the asking. “Sunshine” laws require entities like the Ada-Liberty EMS board, Liberty Township Board and War Memorial Park board to take minutes and provide them upon request.

Can the two existing communication channels be used to provide Ada residents with updates on public meeting dates and activities? The Ada Icon has invited these three Liberty Township entities to give it a try.

CAN YOU GOOGLE IT?
The Ada Icon does not currently have enough reporters to attend all of these meetings. As the Icon editor, it’s even a stretch to remind the boards to send me the minutes on a monthly basis.

I have created the Facebook group Ada Icon Public Meeting Documents and invited the boards to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1914146485986300

On July 21 I uploaded minutes for January-June 2025 provided by the Ada-Liberty Ambulance Board, which can now be downloaded and shared on Facebook. A combined PDF file is also shared HERE.

Facebook is not an equal opportunity platform. To view information you need to have an account. However, Facebook is the preferred communication platform of several local agencies including the Ada Police Department and the Hardin County Sheriff.
