Icon dog of the week - Jess

Bulldog golfers compete in NWC quad

DEFIANCE - The Ada golf team finished fourth in a four-team Northwest Conference match at the Auglaize Golf Club Monday evening.

Paulding won the meet with 175 strokes, followed by Columbus Grove (184), Delphos Jefferson (186) and Ada (206).

Ethan Hull paced Ada with a career-best round of 48. Austin Amburgey posted a 51.

Teammate Alex Morgan posted a 53 while Brevin Sizemore registered a 54.

Rob Allison added a score of 59 while Jake Colwell shot 64.

Fletcher Cook of Paulding and Logan Gallmeier of DJ tied for match medalist honors in the event with scores of 41.

Ada spikers whip Perry

ADA - The Ada volleyball team swept Perry Monday night in a non-league battle.

The Lady Bulldog spikers improved to 5-4 with the 25-11, 25-12, 25-16 win.

Senior Morgan Swick passed out 27 assists, made 12 digs and served four aces to lead the victors. Sophomore Sidney Gossasrd came up with 11 digs and dealt three aces.

Senior Rilan Conley hammered 11 kills and served a pair of aces. Sophomore Megan Light knocked down seven kills and made three blocks.

Senior Raina England and sophomore Miranda Wills each contributed five kills.

The Lady Bulldog reserves also won in straight sets.

McVey runner of the week again

For the second consecutive week, former NCAA All-American and senior cross country runner Ian McVey represented Ohio Northern as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

 

McVey finished third overall out of 302 total competitors and was the top finisher for the Polar Bears at the Calvin (Mich.) Knight Invitational Saturday. His time of 25:06 guided Northern to an 11th-place finish in the team standings out of 23 competing schools and marked the fastest time among runners from NCAA Division III institutions.

ONU pounds Muskingum in conference opener

Junior Anthony McFadden (Chillicothe/Paint Valley) ran for a career-high 112 yards and threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Ohio Northern football team to a 42-14 victory over Muskingum on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears (2-0 overall, 1-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) also got 81 yards rushing and a touchdown from sophomore A.J. Marks (Guysville/Alexander) and 44 yards rushing and three touchdowns from freshman Brock Martin (Attica/Seneca East).

The Muskies (1-1, 0-1) were led by Brody Hahn with 88 yards rushing and 199 yards passing.

Meet the homecoming court

The Ada High School Homecoming Court was named today. The announcement of the king and queen will be made at pregame ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday prior to the start of the football game at Ada War Memorial Stadium. Students in grades 9-12 voted today on their choice for king and queen. The court includes, from left: Timberlyn Blankenship and Riley Ferguson, freshmen; Brenna Hissong and Jacob Morgan, sophomores; Klava Katayama and Phillip Coulson, juniors; and seniors Anabel Alexander and Brice Ferguson, Kama Arn and Brayden Cheney, Raina England and Brad Clum.
