Mustang Clum 1st team All-NWC; Ada’s Zimmerman HM

ADA – The 2023-24 All-Northwest Conference boys basketball teams were voted on by the league coaches and released by the league office Sunday.

Allen East placed one male on the first team, while an Ada sophomore was named honorable mention all-league.

Quick AE senior playmaker Carson Clum was voted to the all-league first team. Clum led the Mustangs in scoring, rebounds, steals and assists per game despite being just 5-9. 

Clum led AE to a 12-10 overall record and a 4-4 mark in conference play, good for a fifth-place tie with Leipsic in the nine-team league standings.

Sophomore wing Zimmerman topped Ada in scoring and three-point goals made. The youthful Bulldogs finished the regular season 5-17 and 0-8 in their final season as an NWC member.

Bulldog McClain sectional wrestling champ; Riblet places 3rd

LIMA__Two Ada High School wrestlers advanced to the district meet in Troy with strong showings at the 14-team Lima Div. III sectionals on Saturday, February 24.

Dominating Ada senior Clayton McClain won the 150 lbs. crown to repeat as a sectional champion. The top-seeded Bulldog had a first round bye and won his first match 18-2 with a technical fall. 

AE girls basketball wins sectional title over Cavs, runs win streak to 13

HARROD__The host Allen East High School girls basketball team used withering second period defense to defeat upset-minded Coldwater 56-47 in the Div. III sectional finals Saturday night in Harrod, authoring their 13th straight victory in the process.

Bulldog boys basketball tames Wildcats

VANLUE__On February 24, the Ada High School boys basketball team dominated the middle periods to defeat winless Vanlue 61-46 in a non-league game and finish the regular season on a positive note.

The Bulldogs trailed 14-9 after the first period. But a 15-5 second stanza turned things around and gave Ada a 24-19 lead at halftime.

The purple and gold then seized control with a 21-11 third quarter run to build a 45-30 cushion heading to the final quarter. 

The Bulldogs won the decisive middle quarters by a combined score of 36-16.  

Ada ended its regular season 5-17 after the road victory, and won two of its last three games heading to the tournament. 

Egg-cellent Adventure hosted by Autism Life Center

Autism Life Center’s Egg-cellent Adventure will take place at the Ada Public Library on Thursday, February 29 from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
