The award was presented to a full house of friends and acquaintances at the 11th annual membership meeting and award ceremony of the Hardin County Chamber Business and Alliance.
The dinner meeting was in McIntosh Center Feb. 23.

The No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team used a defensive effort to defeat Marietta 61-60 in Thursday evening's Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal round to advance to the OAC Tournament championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears move to 26-0 overall with the victory.
With Northern up by one point and Marietta in possession of the final shot, junior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) recorded back-to-back blocks to seal the Polar Bear victory.
Daniel Walker (left), president of Kokosing Industrial in Westerville, and Charles Leader, founder of Leader Fabricating in Napoleon, are this year's recipients of distinguished alumni awards from the engineering college. Kokosing is one of the largest contractors in the Midwest with annual sales of $1 billion. Walker is vice chair of the ONU board of trustees. Leader, who grew up on a farm in McComb, holds several patents. His company designs solutions and machines for companies across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia
This is the second installment of revealing the history of Ada and ONU through the artifacts that have been passed down family member to family member and estate to collector.
As was revealed in the earlier piece, these collectables may seem so strange to us today but there was a time when a memento of one’s connection to place and/or alma mater was as normal as taking a selfie with the Ada Village sign today.
The artifacts presented in this offering are three china cups of different shapes and sizes, all with the ONU Administration Building and a china plate with the afore mentioned building and four others.
The Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team is set to compete at the OAC championships at Baldwin Wallace University on Friday and Saturday. The meet will feature all 10 teams in the conference.
The Polar Bears have finished in the top-3 at the championships for the last three seasons.
Northern is coming off of a strong weekend as it competed at both the Ohio State Buckeye Tune Up and the Mount Union Tune Up

During the detail, 20 traffic stops were conducted, numerous citations issued, two subjects were taken into custody, suspected drugs were seized, one firearm was seized and stolen property was recovered.

On Feb. 22, The Hardin County Crime Task Force, assisted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Kenton and Forest Police Departments, as well as K-9 units from Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Ada and McComb Police Departments, conducted a crime interdiction detail, focusing on areas in Hardin County that are known for recent criminal activity.
Janice L. Umphress, age 89, died on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 2:57am at Memorial Hospital of Union County in Marysville, Ohio.
She was born on January 27, 1928 in Lima, Ohio to Lee and Rhoda (Hammer) Wingate who preceded her in death. On June 28, 1946 Janice married Maurice “Morrie” Umphress and he died on August 7, 2010.
Janice was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ada and the Women’s Guild of the church. Janice was a 1945 graduate of Bluffton High School. She was a member of the Ada Senior citizens.

More than 900 people are expected for the annual Conservation Tillage Conference to be held in McIntosh Center March 7-8. There will be 60 presenters and many agribusiness exhibitors on hand to discuss new ideas and technologies.
Here are some questions that will be answered:
* How to improve soil health.
* How to produce corn in the most profitable and environmentally safe way.
* How to fit cover crops into your operation.
* How to apply manure to make the most efficient use of nutrients.
DELPHOS - Ada senior guard Haley Wyss was named first team All-Northwest Conference in girls basketball by the league coaches in voting conducted recently at Delphos.
Wyss led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring (14.5 ppg), assists, free throws and three-point field goals. Coming on strong in the second half of the campaign, she topped Ada in scoring in 14 of their 23 games, including the last six in a row.
Wyss also topped Ada in scoring in six of their eight NWC games, with a high of 24 vs. Lincolnview. In conference play, she averaged 13 points per game. Her overall season-high of 26 points came Feb. 14 against Fostoria.
