Hardin County – For the time period of April 15-30, Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 3.16 inches of rain in Hardin County.  Last year, the average rainfall for the same time period was 1.46 inches.  Rainfall for the April 15-30 time period is 1.12 inches more than the ten year average rainfall during the same dates.

Ada HS senior honors awards ceremony

Ada High School seniors were recognized on May 17 during the senior honors awards ceremony.

Rielyn Castle, Taryn Fullom, Meredith Marshall and Elizabeth Milks were named valedictorians, while Ashley Breidenbach was named salutatorian. A story about those students is above.

The Ada High School Alumni Association is hosting a Golf Outing on Saturday June 3rd, 2017 at 8:00 am at Colonial Golfers Club

You do NOT need to be an AHS Alum to participate. 

You may enter as a team or as an individual for $60 per player. Included with your registration are door prizes and a catered lunch at which winners of different challenges along the course will be announced.

All proceeds from this event will go toward the Ada High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Four members of the Ada High School class of 2017 were named valedictorians and one was named salutatorian during the May 17 senior honors awards ceremony.

Rielyn Castle, Taryn Fullom, Meredith Marshall and Elizabeth Milks are the valedictorians, and Ashley Breidenbach salutatorian.

Bluffton Family Recreation is accepting registrations for two 3-on-3 tournaments in June.

A 3-on-3 basketball tournament is Saturday, June 10. It has three divisions including middle school, high school and adults. The tourney is double-elimination. Cost per team is $100.

A 3-on-3 soccer tournament has two sessions. The first is Saturday, June 24. The second is Saturday, July 29. It has two divisions including high school and adults. Cost per team is $80.

ADA — Junior Zach Goodchild (Pickerington/North) was named PING All-Great Lakes Region in men's golf for 2016-17 by the National Golf Coaches Association.

Goodchild led the Polar Bears in scoring this season, averaging 74.4 strokes per round for 18 rounds.

In 56.5 career rounds, Goodchild has an impressive 76.46 average.

He is also an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection.

The Polar Bears posted a 49-33-1 overall record and were fourth at the OAC Championships tournament under fourth-year head coach Chad Bucci.

ADA — Ohio Northern sophomores David Hayman (Westerville/South) and Tim Kargl (Downers Grove, Ill./South) were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's tennis for 2016-17 in voting conducted by the league's nine head coaches.

Hayman was a Second Team selection and Kargl was an Honorable Mention honoree.

Hayman led the Polar Bears with a 17-6 singles record, playing primarily at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots.

He was also one of three ONU players with 12 doubles wins and led the team with an overall record of 29-15.

Hayman has 25 singles wins, 22 doubles wins and 42 overall victories in his two seasons at Ohio Northern.

Five Ada Future Farmers of America Chapter members received state degrees at the recent Ohio FFA convention.

In front of nearly 9,000 members, parents and guests, the following juniors and seniors were recognized for their achievements:

• Hunter Purdy
• Ashley Breidenbach

According to Ada High FFA records, this is the greatest number of students to ever earn state degrees in one year.

College of Law extending reach through unique program

Seven international students who are on a mission to improve legal education in their home countries will be among the graduates when the Ohio Northern University College of Law holds its commencement ceremony on May 21.

Six law instructors from Kosovo and one from Afghanistan have spent the 2016-17 academic year developing their teaching skills while earning the LL.M. in Democratic Governance and Rule of Law.

They are enrolled in the Program in Legal Pedagogy and Instruction and will earn certificates in that area in addition to their advanced law degrees.
