On November 6, I ask for your support on Issue 6, OSU Extension Levy. This RENEWAL levy generates financial support for programs in our county such as 4-H, Agriculture & Natural Resources, Family Consumer Science, and SNAP Education. Because of the local share, financial support is returned to our county in matching state, federal and grant dollars. Without local dollars, the state and federal dollars would not be provided to OSU Extension.
Art, music and drama will be featured at the 4th annual literary art show, Second Expression, A Juried Art Exhibition and Fundraiser for Hardin County Artists and the Alger Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 3, 5-7 p.m. at the Alger Public Library.
This unique idea was inspired by the financial need of the library and the desire to provide visibility and income opportunity for the artists of Hardin County. All artwork is created using old or unwanted library resources, giving a “second expression” to their long life and usefulness.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. when all attendees are given the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award winner.

Ada-Liberty Township has an old fire truck, 10 years older than most citizens who live here. The median age of an Ada resident is 21-years-old, according to the latest Census. Ada-Liberty Township has a fire truck that is 30-years-old and the fire department wants to change that.
The Nov. 6 ballot will find a 1 mill, five-year tax levy to replace the department’s oldest truck, which equates to $100 a year for five years on property with an assessed valuation of $100,000.

A dinosaur, a giant bat, and even The Cat in a Hat enjoyed Halloween in Ada on Thursday evening.
Nice weather drew a large crowd of trick or treaters downtown and door-to-door throughout the community. There was popcorn at ReStore, pizza and cookies at the library, hotdogs at the fire department and Tavern 101, and big candy bars at the police station for the beggars, large and small.
