TIFFIN - The Ada boys soccer team had its solid season come to an end in the Div. III district semifinals as they lost to Van Buren 6-1 on a chilly Wednesday evening at Tiffin Frost-Kalnow Stadium.
The seventh-seeded Bulldog boys finish their season 11-7-1 after the defeat. The top seed Black Knights improved to 18-2 with the win.
Ada scored first to take a 1-0 lead. But VB tallied three goals in the final 14 minutes of the first half to seize control. The Black Kights added three more scores after intermisison to win going away.
A five-year permanent improvement renewal levy is on the ballot for voters in the Ada school district on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Here are answers to some of the frequently asked questions about the levy.

What kind of levy is this?
This is a renewal of a Permanent Improvement levy. The levy is NOT a new tax and is NOT a tax increase. It is a 2.9 mill property tax levy.
When was this levy first approved by voters?
Voters first approved it in 1990, and voters have generously renewed or replaced it since that time.
The Ohio Northern University Marching Band will celebrate the 2018 season during its annual “Band-O-Rama” concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28 in the Freed Center.
The band will perform selections from its program, “9-0,” which features music associated with the 1990s. Concertgoers will hear Anton Dvorak’s “New World Symphony,” a European classical hit influenced by American music. The group will also perform Nirvana’s megahit “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “I Want it That Way” by the Backstreet Boys.
Field Commander Adam Grim leads the band in a special performance of his arrangement of the hit “Creep” by Radiohead.
The Ohio Northern University choirs will present their traditional Homecoming weekend concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 in Presser Hall. The “Choral Collage” will feature the women’s chorus, University Singers and Chamber Singers performing pieces by Mendelssohn, Brahms, Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo and American composer Jake Runestad, and will conclude with the traditional singing of the ONU Hymn. The concert is free and open to the public.
WESTERVILLE — The No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball program battled to earn a pivotal four-set road victory over Otterbein in Westerville on Tuesday evening.
The Polar Bears move to 18-7 overall and 7-1 in the OAC with the 21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15 win. The Cardinals fall to 19-7 overall and 7-1 in the OAC. The teams are now tied for first in the conference with each program scheduled to conclude their regular season slates this weekend.
A special Village Council meeting has been called for Wednesday, Oct. 24 immediately following the public meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main. The stated purpose of the special meeting is to consider and approve a pay ordinance and to discuss the refuse collection contract.
Phase II of the Willeke Street improvement will be the topic of the first meeting at 7 p.m. At that meeting, funding details, assessments to property owners, and construction plans will be explained, and those attending may ask questions.

Sixty degree weather brought out many ghosts and goblins on Monday evening for the annual Halloween parade and costume contest sponsored by the Ada Kiwanis Club.
There were groups, individuals, and dogs dressed from spacemen to grave diggers, gruesome and ghoulish, to sweet and adorable. The Kiwanis Club handed out many awards to costume winners in numerous categories and age groups.

The injury plagued Bulldog’s losing skid continued this past Friday night as they traveled to Bluffton and suffered their fifth consecutive defeat. The Pirates built a 28-0 first half lead and cruised to a 43-14 final. The loss drops Ada to 1-5 in the Northwest Conference and 2-7 overall.
