In The Freed Center on Friday evening

The Ohio Northern University Wind Orchestra, with Antoine T. Clark as conductor, will present a concert, “Give Us This Day,” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

The program will explore concepts of origin, joy, celebration and awareness through the music of Andreas Makris, Alexander Arutiunian, John Barnes Chance, J. S. Bach and David Maslanka.

As stated by Maslanka, “the words ‘give us this day,’ from the Lord’s Prayer, touch the idea of being immediately and vividly alive in the moment, the reason why music making can be so vital and compelling.” Dave Kosmyna, ONU professor of trumpet, will be the featured soloist.

The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving program recorded its third successive runner-up finish at the 2018-19 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the University of Akron in February, headlining the Polar Bears' first season under head coach Austin Veltman.

"This year, our swimmers and divers competed hard all season long," Veltman noted. "The athletes definitely earned the success they had this season, and I am incredibly proud of their efforts."

This year, the Polar Bears recorded a 4-3 overall record for the program's 12th consecutive winning season. In addition, Northern posted a 3-1 conference mark to end second in the OAC Regular Season title race.

Leland Crouse is the go-to guy for all things Ada. The retired Ford plant employee and self-professed history buff began tracing his family’s genealogy in the 1990s.  Since most of his relatives were from Ada, it led to an interest in the history of the village itself. Then a bequest from the local newspaper really ignited his passion for Ada’s past.

Cleaning contact lenses incorrectly could have negative consequences for your health and vision.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns consumers to be cautious when caring for their contact lenses. This is particularly important when using contact solution that contains hydrogen peroxide.

Contact solutions that contain hydrogen peroxide are free of preservatives, making them a good option for people with allergies or sensitivities to preservatives in other contact solutions. However, hydrogen peroxide solutions are not risk-free.

Health care providers frequently see patients who have noticed they have passed blood into the toilet. It can be surprising and distressing, but many people are not concerned and blame the bleeding on hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids are clusters of veins that are normal and present in the lowest part of the intestinal tract where stool exits the body. They function to serve as a shock absorber so that bowel movements can leave the body easily. Occasionally, they enlarge and bleed. Situations where this happen are when people frequently strain due to constipation or heavy lifting.
