LIMA - The Ada boys golf team finished second in a three-team non-league match Wednesday at the Tamarac Golf Course.
Leipsic won with 184 strokes, with Ada second (227) and Lima Senior third (257).
Junior Andrew Rush paced the Bulldogs with a nine-hole round of 54. Junior Dexter Woods shot 56, and senior Jacob Morgan carded a 58. Sophomore Geddes Klingler was the fourth Ada scorer with a 59.
Freshman Jack Baumgartner (62) and junior Kamron Wilkerson (75) rounded out the Bulldog scores.
Ada's next American Red Cross blood drive is from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, in the Community Health Professionals Ada Visiting Nurses conference room, 1200 S. Main St.
Face coverings are required at this blood donation. Also, if the donor is able to fill out rapid pass to please do so as it is a huge timesaver. If not, procedures at the blood drive will be the same as in the past.
Ohio Northern University will hold a drive-through food drive on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The food drive will take place in the ONU parking lot next to Rite Aid at the corner of Main Street and College Avenue.
All non-perishable food items are welcome, and particular needs are canned soup, canned chicken, boxed potatoes, peanut butter, dry pasta, toilet paper, paper towels, cereal and Ramen noodles.
All donations will go to the Ada Food Pantry.
The food drive is a student-led initiative put on by ONU’s Religious Life staff. It began with a shared desire to serve the local community in the midst of the pandemic.
Dr. Tom Zhou has joined the medical staff at ENT & Allergy Specialists of Northwest Ohio, part of Blanchard Valley Medical Practices. Dr. Zhou is an otolaryngologist and will treat diseases of the head and neck. His office is located at 1110 W. Main Cross St. Suite G, Findlay, Ohio.
Dr. Zhou received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School (Minneapolis, Minnesota). He then completed his residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

ADA - On Thursday afternoon, the Ada school district and athletic department made the difficult and unprecedented decision to cancel the rest of its 2020 football season after just three games.
"Safety concerns arising from a limited number of Ada players available for the game have forced this decision for the Ada district," wrote second-year Bulldog athletic director Eric Perkins in a brief press release.
Third-year head coach Shawn Christopher also announced his resignation Thursday, effective immediately.

After 72 years as a local civic group, the Ada Junior Civic League has decided to change the focus of the organization.
"The name stays the same, but it will be a social club going forward," said Linda Ferguson of the club. "However, we will continue to support the community in limited ways."
"We would like to thank the many loyal customers who have purchased pecans from us over the years, allowing us to give back to the Ada community anywhere from $500 to $1,500 each year. Sadly, we will no longer be selling pecans," she said.
Paul C. Warner Sr., 73, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, at his residence in Lima, surrounded by his family.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1946, in Lima, to the late Merrill and Rowena (Swarner) Warner. Paul was raised by his grandparents the late Clay and Audrey Warner. He was previously married to Linda Warner. Paul’s longtime partner Vickie McKee survives in Starr, South Carolina.
Paul worked as a contractor. He was a member of the Gethsemeni Baptist Church in Starr, S.C. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served from 1966 to 1968 in the Vietnam War. Paul is a member of the American Legion Post #172 in Starr, S.C.
