FROM FACEBOOK__On Saturday, February 28, Studio 419 is hosting its first annual Kids Famers Market.

There will 11 booths with lots of items for sale. Open 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Studio 419 is located at 111-113 S. Main St.

September 1, 1939, marks the first official date when local dealers of The Ohio Oil Company introduced an improved gasoline under the trade name of “Marathon.”

While car owners in the Ada area have used Marathon motor oil for several years, this is the first chance to buy Marathon gasoline in this territory.

MEDIA RELEASE__The 2026 Hardin County Poultry Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 28 at Missionary Alliance  Church located at 15436 OH-309, Kenton, OH 43326. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and the banquet will begin at  6:00 p.m. 

There is no charge to attend the banquet, but reservations need to be made by March 23 by contacting Catherine Scharf at 419-996-9234 or [email protected]

Chicken will be provided as the main course. Each family is asked to bring their most requested, best-tasing side dish and dessert to share.

Merle “Lou” Dewitt, age 63, of McGuffey, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton. 

Lou was born on April 13, 1962, to the late Walter “Junior” and Barbara (Engle) Bushong.  In 1991, Lou married Donald Dewitt, Sr., and he survives in McGuffey. 

Also surviving are her five children: Daniel Rayl of Great Falls, MT, April Casio of Ada, Bobbie (Jonathan Krontz) Rayl of Ada, Jason (Courtney) Rayl of Ada and Donald Dewitt, II of McGuffey; ten great-grandchildren; and brother, Bill (Laura) Bushong. 

Lou was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger. 

MEDIA RELEASE__The Alger Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announced that Brittany Roy has accepted the position of Library Director. She will be responsible for managing library operations and services for patrons throughout the USV School District.

Brittany has been a Library Assistant at our Library for about seven years. She has been involved with many programs, administrative duties and helping maintain the Library’s Facebook page.

We are confident that Brittany will be an excellent match for the Director’s duties. Please join us in giving Brittany your congratulations and support.

Two Bulldog swimmers qualify for 2026 district meet

James M. “Jim” Long, age 88, of Ada, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Vancrest of Ada.  

He was born on April 15, 1937, in LaFayette, Ohio, to the late Marvin and Margaret (Muntis) Long .  On August 23, 1959, he married Eleanor (Anspach) Long, and she preceded him in death on April 12, 2014. 

Jim is survived by his two daughters: Judy E. (Sharon Huber) Long of Dublin, and Diane L. (Dee Fuerst) Long of Westerville; two granddaughters, Mariah (Brad) Barrett and Abby (Matthew Bors-Koefoed) Fuerst; two great grandchildren: Logan and Landon; a brother, Tom (Donna) Long of Waynesfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Program offers assistance to individuals who need help with appointments.

LIMA, OH —Area Agency on Aging 3 is officially launching a new program on March 1. TrustedRiders provides non-medical, door-through-door human support and coordination for pre-arranged trips and appointments, whether by walking or with any form of ground transportation arranged through partners. and is currently seeking volunteers to become TrustedRiders Chaperones.

FROM BEATITUDES FACEBOOK__Amanda Waldrup, Community Disaster Program Manager and Lynn Gump, Executive Director of Miami Valley Chapter Red Cross stopped into Beatitudes Community Center to thank us for our partnership during fire disasters.

They were happy to see how much we have to offer during emergency situations.
