LaVerne Clayton Hughes, age 92, of Kenton, died on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Kenton Nursing and Rehab under hospice care.
He was born on August 4, 1933, to the late Herbert and Vivian (Wineman) Hughes. On May 22, 1958, LaVerne married Charlotte Smith, who survives in Kenton.
LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Lucille (Pratt) Hughes, his sister Shirley (Hughes) Hudson, his son Kevin C. Hughes, and his brother-in-law Cecil A. DeLong.

OCT 22 MEDIA RELEASE__Farmers National Banc Corp. (“Farmers”) (NASDAQ: FMNB), the holding company for The Farmers National Bank of Canfield (“Farmers National Bank”), and Middlefield Banc Corp. (“Middlefield”) (NASDAQ: MBCN), the holding company for The Middlefield Banking Company (“Middlefield Bank”), jointly announced today the signing of a definitive merger agreement (the “Agreement”) pursuant to which Middlefield will merge with and into Farmers in an all-stock transaction. Ada Rotary and local businesses to raise funds with sweets
OCT 22 MEDIA RELEASE__The Ada Rotary Club will join Rotary clubs around the world in observing World Polio Day this Friday, October 24, by providing Purple Pinkie Donuts at several local businesses.
These donuts, topped with purple icing, symbolize the purple ink used to mark the pinkie fingers of children who have received the polio vaccine in third world countries.
