These articles will be for informational purposes only, and further details and the complete Codified Ordinances may be found on the Village website, www.adaohio.org, or by calling the Village Water Office at 419-634-4045.
The storm may have passed – but now what?
The storms that blew through Ada last weekend contained some of the strongest winds we have seen in a long time; the National Weather Service called the storm a derecho. (We had to look it up, too: derechos are storms that are in a long, straight line with very strong winds.)
Luckily, the damage throughout the village was not as bad as it could have been. How many of you heard someone mention “THE” ice storm over the past few days?! Thankfully, we did not have another occurrence like the ice storm.
Storm debris does remain visible throughout the town, and we would like you to know that we will be working to remove the limbs and branches from tree lawn areas over the next few weeks, in addition to the regular duties of Village crews.
But we do need your help! Knowing what items to put where helps make the process go smoothly.
Here are some tips:
* Place larger limbs and branches in the tree lawn area, making them visible to our crews. Larger limbs and branches feed through our machines better. Do not place anything in the street.
* Understand that once our crews have removed the large limbs and branches, small piles of leaf and stick litter will remain. You should be able to easily rake those small piles up and bag them for refuse pick up.
* If you have smaller sticks and leaves, bag them and place them in your refuse tote. Waste Management, through the Village contract, will collect your refuse on the regular pick up schedule. If you have a private refuse contract, contact your hauler for more information.
* Avoid placing anything but limbs, branches and tree debris out for Village chipping/pick up.
* If a tree has fallen on a structure (e.g. house, garage, etc), our crews will not remove or trim the tree. For safety reasons, our crews will not handle trees that have fallen into utility lines until the lines have been cleared from the trees by the utility companies.
