Ada Public Library seeks donations for first-ever holiday silent auction; next book discussion on Dec. 4

Several events are underway at the Ada Public Library.

Holiday silent auction

The first-ever holiday silent acution is planned, but needs donated themed baskets from the community.

According to the library staff: The baskets - and think outside the box, feel free to bring your donation in in another kind of style! - will be auctioned off and will serve as wonderful holiday gifts; think about creating a basket which contains things that represent your business/organization, or life in Ada. Donations are tax-deductible.

Businesses/organizations/individuals who choose to donate should drop their basket or items)off at the library by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21st (the Wednesday before Thanksgiving). The library will have the cellophane and ribbons and will wrap the baskets.

The holiday silent auction kick-off on Monday, Nov. 26, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., with light refreshments provided. Baskets will be on display in the library, and the silent bids will be taken from 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26  until 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14.

Lowest bids will begin at $25. So think of that as you prepare your baskets. Persons with other questions may stop by or call the Ada Library (419-634-5246).

December book group

Join the library on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. to discuss "The Autobiography of Santa Claus" as told to Jeff Guinn

Santa reveals his story for the first time. Nicholas (his real name) was born in the  Middle Eastern country of Lycia to wealthy parents who died when he was young. The kind people of Lycia taught him the lessons of goodness and generosity, which he began to practice as a child by sharing his wealth with those in need.

As a young man, Nicholas realized that this generosity had bestowed upon him special abilities to distribute his presents to deserving children everywhere. And so it was that Santa broadened his gift-giving and spread his message to many others who also valued his belief in the goodness of giving.
