Hootenannies focus on livestock quality assurance facts
By Faith Holbrook, reporter
The last meeting of the Hardin Co. Hootenannies 4-H club was held at the Kenton Ag Credit meeting room. There were 14 members present. This was our mandatory Quality Assurance day.
President Megan Williams opened the meeting. Sean Hurley led us in the American Flag pledge and Isaac Davis led the 4-H pledge. Old business included the decision not to take care of the flowers at the courthouse. We will be helping with the YMCA Triathlon in July as a community service.
We made decisions for our new 4-H sign for the fair. It is exciting to be a part of this. We will be discussing our club t-shirts at the next meeting. They announced 4-H camp for Hardin Co is June 21-25.
Livestock should have been on our farm premises by June 1st. Lamb weigh in is June 14 at the fairgrounds.
Isaac Davis did a health and safety presentation on Poison Ivy Protection. It can be an itchy subject. Next meeting, Laura Spradlin and Preston Brien will do their health and safety reports. Our dues need to be paid by that meeting too.
Advisor Melissa Rofe had a few games to play as we learned Livestock Quality Assurance Facts. We played Bingo on health and drug facts. We also did a Multiple Choice game. She would ask the questions and we would stand at the area in the room that had the right answers. We all did real well.
The next meeting is Sun June 8 at 4 p.m. We will be at Preston Brien's farm and he will provide refreshments as well.
